Marriott Wailea Beach Resort Review: Check-In
Upon check-in at the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort, you’ll be welcomed into the lobby by flower leis, glasses of POG (Passionfruit, Orange, Guava), and hot towels.
The staff even gave a stuffed whale to my daughter.

Marriott Wailea Restaurants and Bars
There are plenty of places to eat at the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort. Choose from any of these options:
- HUMBLE MARKET KITCHIN by Roy Yamaguchi
- Mo Bettah Food Truck
- NAUL Pool Bar
- KAPA Bar & Grill
- Oceanfront and Cabana candlelight dining
- Starbucks
- Sunsets Bar
- Te Au Moana Luau (offered Monday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday)
- Whale’s Tale
Here’s a little more about my 2 favorite places to dine at the Wailea Beach Resort.
Whale’s Tale
This little breakfast and lunch spot is located on the walkway by the ocean, so it’s accessible even if you aren’t staying at the Wailea Marriott. It’s a great spot for breakfast with a view of the Pacific.
They offer juices, smoothies, and coffee, plus things like breakfast sandwiches and french toast sticks. Try the “maca-wow” — it’s the best acai bowl I have ever had (admittedly, this was my first, but I have since had a bunch and it’s still my favorite).
KAPA Bar & Grill
This open-air restaurant overlooks one of the resort’s beautiful pools. It’s a nice spot for lunch or dinner. The food was fresh and the cocktails were excellent.
Pro Tip: Hawaii has voted to ban the sale of certain sunscreens that are harmful to the coral reefs. So, while you are enjoying your day at the beach or taking part in water activities, don’t forget to bring Hawaii-approved reef-safe sunscreen.
Hotel Grounds and Amenities at the Marriott Wailea
The Marriott Wailea Beach Resort is absolutely beautiful. It’s lush and tropical with gorgeous ocean views — everything you would want from a fancy Hawaiian resort.
Pools At The Marriott Wailea Beach Resort
The pools at the Marriott Wailea Beach Resort are absolutely stunning.
The NALU Adventure Pool is geared towards kids and families. It’s perfect for young kids because of the zero entry with animal sculptures and splash area. Plus, the NALU pool has 2 small waterslides. My 4-year-old was in heaven.
There are also 2 larger waterslides, including the longest waterslide in Maui at 325 feet, at the far end of this pool that the adults enjoyed.
There are 2 oceanfront ‘Ohi Pools that are for suitable all ages and offer hot tubs and cabanas. Plus there is a fantastic adults-only infinity pool, the Maluhia Serenity Pool, that offers cushy lounge chairs and quiet luxury.
The resort also has a dive pool so you can learn how to scuba dive on your vacation.
Marriott Wailea Beach
The Marriott Wailea is located right on the ocean between 2 beaches. So while there’s not a beach directly in front of the resort, there are beaches on either side. This isn’t uncommon in Hawaii since the coastline can be so rugged in places.
You’ll find Wailea Beach next door at the Grand Wailea (a Hilton resort). It’s an easy walk along a short path to access this beach. On the other side of the hotel is the smaller and quieter Ulua Beach.

Aloha Sign Maui
If you’re looking for the Aloha Sign Maui, you’re in luck because it’s located at the Wailea Beach Resort Marriott Maui! You’ll find the Aloha sign in the courtyard area by the front lobby — you can’t miss it!
Activities At The Marriott Wailea Beach Resort
There are different activities offered throughout the day at the Wailea Marriott. I loved the morning yoga classes. The instructor took us out to a shaded, grassy area overlooking the water. It was a breathtaking way to keep active while on vacation.
Here are some of the activities and amenities you can expect:
- 24-hour fitness center
- Beachside jogging path
- Beauty shop
- Cornhole
- Daily fitness and yoga classes
- Game room
- Giant Chess and Connect 4
- Golf on-site
- Kids club and game room
- Koi pond
- Mandara Spa
- On-site photographer

Marriott Wailea Beach Resort Fee
Man, I hate resort fees. They are such BS. I really wish hotels would just charge more and include all of the extras for “free”….sigh.
The Marriott Wailea Beach Resort charges a resort fee of $38 per night. According to Marriott, this fee covers “internet, bike rentals, intro to scuba classes, and more”.
You will still have to pay the resort fee even if you’re paying for your entire stay with points.
Pro Tip: If you want a hotel that you can pay for with points AND avoid a resort fee, look to Hyatt. They waive resort fees on all award bookings! We loved our stay at the Grand Hyatt Kauai sans resort fees!
How To Use Points To Stay At The Marriott Wailea
Wailea Beach Resort Marriott Maui is a category 7 property, requiring 50,000-70,000 Marriott points per night.
The good news is that if you stay 4 nights on points, your 5th night is free! That means you can stay for 5 nights at Wailea Beach Resort Marriott Maui for only 200,000 points during standard times.
That might seem like a lot of points, but there are so many ways to earn them that it’s a very achievable figure.
The key to earning lots of Marriott points fast is having the right credit card.
