Scottdale, Arizona is a great city to visit — you’ll find warm weather, blue skies, fantastic hiking, and a cute downtown area known as Old Town Scottsdale.

Old Town Scottsdale Segway Tour
One of the best ways to explore Old Town is on a segway tour! During our weekend in Scottsdale, we decided to try out a tour with Segway of Scottdale.
Our tour started with some practice on the Segway in the back parking lot. I figured it would be a breeze and, although I got the hang of it, it was a little strange at first. The Segways are so sensitive to your movements that it really doesn’t take much to make them go.
The tour guide goes over all of the basics of operating the Segways and some safety rules. Once everyone in the group is comfortable, you will head out to the streets (mostly sidewalks, actually).
Our guide, Jarrod, was great. He shared some historical information about the city along the way, and we even scooted up to the top of a parking garage to get a great view of the city!
Segway of Scottsdale provided helmets, earbuds so we could hear our guide, and water. There was a small bag on the front of the Segway to hold a purse or phone.
The thing that surprised me the most about riding a segway was the leg cramps. Since you are so focused on your balance, your legs and feet tend to cramp up. You can wiggle your feet while you are riding to alleviate some of the cramping but you will still feel it.
Don’t let that deter you, though. It wasn’t terrible and, given the opportunity, I would ride a Segway again.
